The Addiction was purchased in October of 2000 in Alameda. She was manufactured in Southern California in 1981. She has raced, cruised and has been well maintained by her former owners. She now berths in Emery Cove Marina in Emeryville and sails on a weekly basis on the San Francisco Bay. This website will give you information about Newport sail boats and some of the adventures we have had with her. Also included are some links that will have you crossing oceans and facing off with pirates near Costa Rica! So sit back and enjoy our site and sail into the sunset with us as we explore the wonders of sailing.

The Addiction flying her colors in the 2003 Vallejo race.

I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time. --Jack London
